DEMERIC SCHOOL OF DANCE – Easter 2014 End Of Term Notice – Monday 24th March

Dear Parents,

This week is watching week and you are invited to come along to watch your child has learnt this term. Where possible please could you try and limit guests to 2 per family and try if possible to have siblings looked after. Watching week can become very stressful trying to teach the children with siblings running around throughout the class and making noise. I fully understand having children myself the difficulties of child care but the siblings do understandably get bored and the disruption it sometimes cause is unfair to the children trying to dance.

There is a huge pile of Lost Property in the Maltings Changing Room, please check there is nothing belonging to your child as all the items will be removed by the end of term.

The Little Mix Sports Relief Dance video is out now and if you look closely there are 2 of our seniors students, Rosie Booth and Phoebe Ward dancing. We also had a sneaky Mum auditioning and only told me after the Dance video was made that she also got in ….. so look out for Mrs Lambert-Parsons!!! – Well done you for auditioning!

Lily Jerome danced in the Annual London Choreographics on Sunday 9th March and was runner up in the Musicality Award for her solo junior section for her “Wave Dance” …Congratulations!

Please check the website regularly for any notices and if you’re not getting school emails then please let me know. There are Mathilda Auditions and we’ve also been asked if we’d like to do “The Children in Need 2014 Tapathon” on Sunday 16th November. The aim will be to dance a Tap routine which will be danced all around the country at 1pm that day and try and break the World Record for having over 7,596 tappers dancing at the same time. After Easter, I will be sending out all the details if anyone is interested as there will be a routine to learn which we hope to add in all the Tap classes leading up to November as not to put any extra rehearsals. Adult Tappers…your turn to shine again!!!

As quite a few children will be taking their exams at the end of this term and moving up to the next class and possibly changing days, please let me know the next class your child hopes to attend. From Grade 3 Ballet we do encourage 2 classes of Ballet per week, 1 being reduced in price. The timetable also changes slightly on Tuesdays as some of the senior Tap classes have been extended to 45mins instead of 30mins due to all the recent Tap Syllabus revamped. So please check the timetable. We also will be adding an Advanced 1 Ballet Class if anyone may be interested?

And lastly, there has been an improvement in uniform this term. Demeric zip up hoodies will hopefully be available to order after Easter and please ensure your child either has a Demeric t’shirt or woolly crossover in class if they need more layers . If you haven’t got the correct uniform please order from your teacher in class or email me.

There are still some spaces for the Easter Workshop:

Monday 14th Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th April – Scottish Dancing, Streetdance & Singing & Dancing to Mary Poppins! Let me know if you’d like your child to attend, it is also open to any friends who do not attend regular Demeric Classes.

Have a great Easter break and let’s hope the sun keeps shining!!!

Kind Regards,

Aurelia Whitfield.
